In an exclusive interview with IP&TV News published today, Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor has revealed that the trailblazing online video platform is preparing a subscription video on demand (SVOD) product and expects to launch it this year. “The current online video ecosystem is much like the early days of broadcast television where there was the big ad-supported networks providing decent content for mass audiences,” Trainor explained. “Then along came HBO, changing the game completely by offering a premium experience for audiences willing to pay more to watch higher quality content, and without disruptive advertising.”
